Finally!!!!

LukeOblivious (Ravelry link) here.

We’ve found a permanent home for our craft group. Whoop!

:bounce:

Due to having my DD with me Nancy Blake’s age restriction of over 23’s only (which I hadn’t noticed before) was a tad off putting. Plus, should teenagers want to join our crafty circle they shouldn’t be restricted. So…..

Just down the street from Nancy’s is the Old Quarter pub which has out door seating, out door heating, comfy indoor seating, grand coffee and good service.

I sat knitting there for an age and got ne’er a quare look and my DD was welcome as they serve food and thus can have children on the premises a tad later than usual.

So, we’re gonna be there, for definite, Tuesdays from 7.30p.m. til 9.30p.m.

:D

Happy crafting folks

21.04 Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch Meet Up

Where Nancy Blakes Pub
19 Upper Denmark Street, Limerick

When 7.30p.m. on Tuesday, 21st April

It's one of Limericks most well known pubs. If in doubt about how to get there ask anyone on O'Connell street.

Alternatively, have a good look at the map below. It shows the route a pedestrian could take from a starting point located between the Tourist Office and Arthur's Quay to Nancy Blakes. There's parking in Arthur's Quay so I figured this may be a good starting point.

See you there folks :)

Regards
Luke Oblivious

Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch Meet Up

We're going to meet up in The George hotel, which is on the corner of O'Connell & Shannon Streets, on Wednesday 15th April - tomorrow - from 6 til 7 (or whenever we get bored).

For those who wish to join us there are no requirements. Membership is open. Just bring your good self, your portable craft if you have one & enough coin for a cuppa.

You don't even need to be a crafter!

See you there!

We know that this time, place and date won't suit everyone, but we felt the need to kick off our meet-ups. We're still open to playing around with times and location so please leave a comment and give us your feedback.

In the meantime, happy crafting!

:)

Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch on Ravelry

You can find us here

Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch Facebook Group

We now have a group profile on Facebook.

Luke finally figured out how to do it with encouragement from Steve.

So yay!

Ravelry

Ravelry, for those not in the yarny loop, is essentially like Facebook for us yarn nerds.

Within its hallowed digital walls we get to share details of our yarn stash, record details of our works in progress and make friends with other folks into making things out of sticks and string.

We (well....Luke), thought it'd be nifty if Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch had our own Ravelry group.

If there are current Ravelry members reading this little bloggie of ours it'd be really great if you could go here to let me know if you're interested in being part of our group as only two of us are currently active on Ravelry and we need three interested folks in order to start a group.

Thanks!

We haz friends! :)

....(On Bebo & Facebook) & our first followers here.

We're always open to more though, so drop on by and say hi.

It doesn't matter if you're a stitcher or a wannabe bitcher.

We've already had feedback about our new bloggie in the positive and affirmatory i.e. Marian likes it.

If the impressaria behind such blogs as Style Treaty and Made Marian: Oozing Crafty Goodness gives it a thumbs up, then it's stylish, clear and understandable.

Score!

:D

Plus, the first venue flagged for the approval of our yarnistas is The George on O'Connell Street.

Having been there myself with a bunch of youth (and no so youth) from MyLGB, I know the chairs are comfy, the lighting is decent and the manager is a genuinely friendly bloke with an open mind.

Any more suggestions?

Shall we give The George a go and see if they can pass muster with our discerning selves?

Hmmmmm?

Hello!!!!

Hey there crafters one and all.

Welcome to the brand spanking new blog of
Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch.

What we're all about: Portable Yarn Arts

Our craft group began when I (craftyrainbowhead) was approached by another Rainbow volunteer (G.) while I was knitting in Bar 3 on Bedford Row.

The conversation essentially went:

G: I don't mean to stare. It's rare to see another person knitting in public. I knit too.

Me: Oh great. That's cool. I knit in public all the time. I'm used to the staring heh heh. :)

G: Have you heard of the Debbie Stoller Stitch'n'Bitch books?

Me: Just bought one. I think they're great.

G: Would you like to meet up and have a stitch'n'bitch?

Me: Absolutely. Where and when?

G: How about here, same time, next week?

Me: Cool.

And so, from such a random encounter, Rainbow Stitch'n'Bitch was born.

Rainbow Support Services symbol of community diversity

Our group is really diverse.

Fun times!

Oh the joys of yarn detanglement

Since then, we have changed location from Bar 3 to Leamy House, Hartstonge Street, Limerick.

First we made ourselves comfy in the Rainbow Coffee Dock and had many a good time.

Then we made the move up to the Attic Drop-in space in the same building.

Leamy House - Our current home
Impressive, isn't it?
:)

Now we have decided that due to the space restrictions in the attic (and the complimentary cardiovascular workout undertaken in order to access the space) - it's time to move again.

So we'll be donning our thinking caps (handmade ones of course) and figuring out which of the city's venerable establishments shall be home to our movable yarny feast.

We're open to suggestions.

Please leave a comment to say hi and let us know how you're getting your knit on.

Happy crafting folks.

Wishing you all warm fuzzies.
